Day 30

Ugh. I feel awful having getting this in so late. I was out all day and I didn't get much time to work out a sketch. So I just did a quick Tom Strong. Well, I know I'm getting this on here after midnight, but I figured if it's before midnight in 4 other time zones, then it still counts. Anyway, I'll try to be more punctual tomorrow.

Day 29

Well, this is the first fully body shot I've done in a while. It is, of course, the Green Lantern Hal Jordan. What more is there to say, really? I'll have to catch up on the Blackest Night saga sometime. It's just so much to keep up with though. Oh well, perhaps I'll stop being lazy and just try to work my way through all the issues and tie-ins...eventually.

Day 28

This will probably be the last in my Popeye series. Of course, it's J. Wellington Wimpy. He'll gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today. Oh Wimpy, you fiscally irresponsible burgerholic. I salute you! Does anyone else find it funny that he looks like Oliver Hardy in this picture?

Day 27

It's Bluto! He's mean! And he beats up Popeye on a regular basis. He's the bully you love to hate.

Day 26

So  keeping in the tradition of doing Popeye characters in a more realistic fashion, I went ahead and did Olive Oyl as well. Yeah, I drew her very pencil thin, but that's just how Olive is. So yeah. There it is.

Day 25

So I was considering what to draw today, and a friend of mine suggested that I draw a realistic version of a cartoon character. So then I got an idea to do a sketch of a picture I drew already. And the result is what you see here...Popeye! In all of his awesome glory!

For today's sketch...it's a zombie Bret "Hitman" Hart.

Yup.

So to complement yesterday's Blue Beetle sketch, I decided to do Booster Gold. I actually put some effort on this one, and it feels good. So yeah, here's hoping tomorrow's will be even better!

I'm cutting this sketches mighty close these days. I often forget that I have this blog up. Anyway, here's Blue Beetle. Enjoy.

Day 20

So you're probably wondering who this is. Well, all I will say at this point is that he and yesterday's sketch are  related (not the people of course, but the sketches themselves). I'm not going to give too much away now, but I'm working on something with these two characters in it. So keep your eyes peeled to see what it is.

Day 19

So here's today's entry. It's a girl in glasses holding a sword. Yes, there is a story behind this, but I don't feel like going into it right now because I'm in a crabby mood. So enjoy the picture!

Day 17

Behold the magic that is the Mermicorn! Yeah, another request. This one was actually a lot of fun to draw. I don't draw many animals, I've noticed. I should practice that more often. Anywho, that's today's piece. Hope you all enjoy it.

Day 16

Whew! I was able to get this one in with time to spare. Ok, today's sketch is again nothing special. Just Dr. Mid-Nite. Yeah, I was really busy today so I didn't know what else to draw. I promise tomorrow's will be more elaborate. Well, until then...PEACE!

Day 15

I really didn't know what to draw today, so here's a cartoon bear. But don't let his friendly visage fool you; he is pure evil and, as Stephen Colbert would say, a godless killing machine! BEARS!!!!

Day 14

So I thought I would show my support for Team Conan today by sketching El Conando himself. Sadly, it looks like his days of doing The Tonight Show may be numbered, thanks to the ineptitude of NBC executives and the big-chinned blunder whose name I shall not utter. I'm sad that I didn't get to see much of his run on the show, because I've always loved Conan. Sure he's had his hits and misses; what comedian hasn't? But he's always relevant and cool, and most importantly, he's just genuinely funny (unlike someone who shall go nameless!)

Well, whatever you plan on doing next, Conan, I'll be sure to check in on you more often than I have been. You can count on it. TEAM CONAN!

So for today's sketch-a-ma-roo, I went with Black Bolt from the Inhumans. Check out all of his majesty! Almost two weeks into my little project, and I show no signs of stopping now!

Day 12

Today's sketch was done in a hurry because I needed to think of something to draw. I decided to go with a picture of all the Batgirls that have ever appeared in the comics. It's basically Betty Kane, Barbara Gordon, and Cassandra Cain all about to jump and beat the crap out of Stephanie Brown, the current Batgirl. Now, this doesn't necessarily reflect my personal views of the new Batgirl, seeing as how I haven't read any of the new stuff with her; rather it's commentary about how some people are not happy with the direction of the new books. Although I will say I'm not too thrilled about her costume. Also, I could never get into Cassandra; I'm sure she's a good character and all, but my Batgirl has been and always will be Barbara Gordon. You can quote me on that!

I think it'd be a nice piece if I put a little more time and effort into it. We'll see how that works out.

Day 11

Today's sketch is a Golden Age Catwoman (or is it Silver Age?). The proportions are a bit off I'll admit, but it it is just a sketch.

Also, I'd like to take this time to say that I might, just might, take some of these sketches and make actual pictures of them. If you have any input as to what sketch I should make a picture, please let me know what you think. Thanks in advance.

Day 10

This one's for Lizzy. She wanted me to do a picture of a girl playing a double bass. This was inspired by Patricia Day from the HorrorPops, a picture of whom Lizzy has supplied me for reference. Anywho, that's 10 down and only 355 to go! Call me butter, because I'm on a roll!

Day 9

So for today's sketch, my friend Sarah wanted me to draw a picture of George W. Bush as Captain Texas (from the show Robot Chicken) shooting at a giant, mutated penguin with a cannon that shoots tacos. Well, here you go, Sarah. I even added a little dialog too. NOTE: This picture doesn't necessarily reflect the viewpoints of the artist, be they political or animal right-related. This was a request from a friend, so chill out. One love!

Day 8

So my good friend Stormy wanted me to draw a picture of a "sea-witch." For those of you unfamiliar with what a sea-witch is, you may remember on from a little movie called The Little Mermaid. Yup, that was Ursula all right. Now, I know this drawing doesn't look anything like the Ursula from the movie, but Stormy showed me a picture she liked and I just took from that instead. So yeah, you're welcome, Stormy! (^_^)

Day 6

For today's sketch, I felt like going a bit old school. So here is Sephiroth from Final Fantasy VII, the game that inspired me to buy a Playstation (that's the PS1, not any of the subsequent models). At the time, I just thought he had an awesome look, and I guess he still does. It's like goth mixed with glam rock. And plus Sephiroth was perhaps one of the most complex characters you'd see in a Final Fantasy game, especially in an antagonist. Seems like all the all the bad guys from that series all have very simple goals in which they want to, you guessed it, take over the world!

(M. Bison Joke originally coined by The Nostalgia Critic)

But Sephiroth's was different, in that inevitably he was willing to destroy the world in hopes of saving it. It's complicated if you haven't played the game, so just browse it on Wikipedia.

Anywho, nice little trip down memory lane there. Now only 359 to go!

Day 2

Because who doesn't love a good cat fight with superpowers involved? For this sketch, I wanted to do Ursa from Superman II versus Lois Lane in her Superwoman form from "All-Star Superman" no. 3. I made a deal a while back with George Marston (If This Be Sketchblog...!) that if I drew him first appearance Batman, he'd do this same picture as I drew. Well, I still intend on drawing him that picture, but I thought I'd do my version of it as well. I still would love to see how he does it.

Well, that's two down, and 363 more to go!

Day 1

Happy New Year, everyone! This marks the inaugural post in my new blog. In case you don't know, this is a new project in which everyday I'll be posting a new sketch. So for this first post of the new year, I went with Wolverine in a diaper. Just look at him! Doesn't he look like he's enjoying every minute of it!

I would've posted this sooner, but the thing is I have a new computer with Windows 7, and my old printer isn't compatible with the new system. So for the time being I've got it hooked up to my old one, which is ridiculously slow at the moment. I'm hoping to get a new one soon.

Anyway, that's all for now. Enjoy the picture, and stay tuned for tomorrows sketch!
